Industry 4.0 Asset Administration Shell - AAS

Background

The companion specification “OPC 30270 – UA for AAS 1.00” is related to the Industrie 4.0 AAS V1.0. AAS changed in the meantime to V3.0 which is not backward compatible to V1.0 of the AAS.
OPC 30270 will be deprecated.

Scope and Purpose

The joint Industrial Digital Twin Association (IDTA) and OPC Foundation “OPC UA for AAS Working Group” will develop new companion specifications and / or Submodel Templates related to OPC UA for Asset Administration Shell V3.0 and compatible.
The information ecosystem of AAS is huge and divided into Submodels. First concrete use cases should be described and rated. As first use-cases the working group will look at the Asset Interface Description (AID), the Asset Interface Mapping Configuration (AIMC) and OPC UA Server Datasheet. This will provide the possibility to enrich the data in AAS Submodels to interact with and via OPC UA.
Solutions can be elaborated for hybrid access (e.g., AAS HTTP and OPC UA Client/PubSub) of decentralized AAS (Sub models) e.g., via complete sub models or further companion specs.
OPC UA can be involved in AAS scenarios as shown in the picture below.
